Trending Colors – Spring 2014

Color has the power to influence the mind, moods and emotions.  This year’s spring color trends will do just that…

Exquisite color combinations are traditionally forecasted each season.  Color experts and designers create exciting new color palettes inspired by emerging trends in art, fashion and interior design from around the world.

This spring, the colors shown above are predicted to appear popular in art, fashion and interior design.  Hospital rooms are no exception.

Hospital Administrators are focusing more and more on the layout and design of each hospital room, creating an atmosphere to help ensure the following:

1) Provide the best care in the most efficient way

2) Ensure the patient’s experience is a good one

3) Accommodate patient’s family members

4) Improve the healing environment

This year, bright colors are most certainly “in;’ which, is great news for healthcare design specialists.  Bright colors inspire the imagination and help patients relax while getting treatments.  Cobalt blue is a particularly hot color this season and has exceptional healing powers.

It has been said that Blue may cool fevers, reduce swelling and inflammation, lower high blood pressure and calm strong emotions like anger, aggression or hysteria.  It is also thought to aid by reducing itch and irritation.  The tranquil quality of the color blue has the power to sooth suffering.

Using Red, White, and Blue together can create an environment that stimulates positive energy,  inspiration,  focus, relaxation, and balance.  Below is a photo that feature Marie Wikoff’s work and shows how cobalt blue can be incorporated into healthcare design.
