Photo Tour: Fontana Medical Center

Photo Tour: Fontana Medical Center

Late last year, Healthcare Design Magazine had an article and photo tour on Fontana Medical Center, a seven-story hospital and bed tower medical facility which is part of the Kaiser Permanente‘s system.  The concept for the 314-bed hospital was based on sustainable architecture designed to holistically support a variety of specialty services, including a cardiac surgery department, a 24-hour ED with 51 private rooms, pediatric and neonatal ICU, an inpatient dialysis unit, pediatrics, an intensive care unit, labor and delivery, a cardiac cath lab, and surgery.

When designing the facility, the concept of Kaiser Permanente’s Total Health Environment was used.  This embraces the three stages of the patient experience: anticipation, transition, and healing. When approaching the building, the gentle curves of the entry function as intuitive wayfinding. The interior of the hospital features warm colors and cues from nature present a welcoming patient experience.

Below are a few photos from the photo tour.  To view all of the photos and read the entire article in Healthcare Design Magazine, click here.
