Looking for a Charity to Support? Ronald McDonald House Is A Great One

The spirit of giving touches people most this time of year. If you are looking for a charity to support, the local Ronald McDonald House is a great one and very close to my heart.

The Reno Ronald McDonald House opened in 1987. The House welcomes families living more than 30 miles away from Reno who has a child receiving treatment at a local hospital or clinic. The local House has hosted nearly 8,000 families.

Home Away From Home

The Ronald McDonald House offers patients and their families a home away from home. The impact is understood best from a recipient’s experience.

How to Help

Another way to help out is by donating household items. The Ronald McDonald House keeps a weekly wish list on Facebook or, you can find their list on their website. See what’s needed.

Lastly, you can become a volunteer.

Beyond the practical and emotional support volunteers give, they have a profound effect on the cost of operating the programs. Whether it is helping in the office, working in the Ronald McDonald Family Room or cooking for families, volunteers are always needed.

Marie Wikoff is the creator of Wikoff Design Studio based out of Reno, Nevada. Her expertise in healthcare design has helped develop modern design for healthcare organizations locally, regionally and internationally. Her credentials include Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC), American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designer (CHID), the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) and LEED AP. 

Marie has committed an extensive amount of time towards being on the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House Northern Nevada. Beyond that, Wikoff Design Studio (WDS) is donating time and services to help the local Ronald McDonald House redesign all twelve bedrooms.
