LEDs – Driving Innovation and Change

Modern Hospital LED (1)Of all the elements needed to modernize healthcare facilities, lighting has seen the most change. Changes in lighting technology and the birth of LEDs has been driving innovation and modernization in the healthcare environment.

Lighting technology has advanced and the use of light-emitting diods (LED)’s has become more wide spread.

The shift in lighting design and materials has been a win-win for all patients, staff, hospital administrators and designers.

LED lights are:

  • More cost effective – saving hospitals money
  • Offer more control and flexibility in each space because they can be dimmed through a control system that is installed within each fixture – more cost effective and offers choices and environmental control for hospital patients and staff
  • Reduce maintenance time and storage space – saves hospitals money and allows designers to better utilize space
  • Better quality, emitting light – has positive effects on the health of patients and staff

It is believed that dimmable LED down-lights will become the standard of the future as output increases and the cost drops. Hospital administrators are taking notice and looking for a way to provide patients more control over their environment and add to their feeling of comfort.

Quality of light and color go a long way too.  LEDs offer more lumens per watt which increase brightness and measure more closely to sunlight.
