The image above comes from HealthcareDesignMagazine.com. It is an example of what a “smart” hospital is and shows how it functions.

The evolution of technology has presented healthcare architects and designers with a unique opportunity to unite architecture and technology to better serve the patients and staff by sharing information.

The diagram shown here is of the new Winthrop University Hospital Research and Academic Center, located on Long Island in Mineola, N.Y. It shows a translational program diagram that identifies the programmatic mix of clinical, research, and education space that enables the sharing of information through embedded technology and everyday interactions in support of patient care. The diagram is courtesy of Perkins Eastman.
