UC San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital in Mission Bay

The new UC San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital in Mission Bay has gone above and beyond to make a hospital stay as comfortable as possible for both children and parents.  The hospital opened on Sunday, February 1, 2015.  They transferred approximately 150 patients from their Mount Zion and Parnassus hospitals. Scroll through the pictures below to see some of the innovations at this state-of-the-art facility.  To visit the hospital’s website and see more photos, click here.   To read the article in the San Francisco Examiner, click here.

There are large interactive flat screen tv's in each patient room.

This is a "pre-operative suite" which allows parents to stay with their child until the anesthesia is given.  They never have to be alone until they have fallen asleep.

Everything in the hospital is "child-sized" so as to be less intimidating for children.  Door handles, counters and handrails are at their level.

100% of the air in the hospital is fresh air, not recirculated.  There are outdoor terraces on every floor for relaxing and taking a breather.
