The New Kid-Friendly, Interactive Space at Renown Children’s Supports the Needs of Children

We always like to highlight our local hospital, Renown’s news. Especially when the local community had a hand in it. Earlier this month, Renown Children’s became one of eight nationwide hospitals to provide children and parents with a Panda Cares® Center of Hope. The new, kid-friendly, interactive space in the Renown Children’s Specialty Center will support the needs of children, bringing them courage and hope to heal and thrive.

The new interactive center provides a dedicated space for kids to play. In times of stress, this imaginative and interactive environment offers a welcome distraction and induces playtime. Studies confirm that environments such as the Panda Cares Center of Hope helps reduce stress, and promotes healing.

General Public Contributes

If you have frequented a local Panda Express in the last few years, you’ll recall at checkout the cashier asking if you would like to donate $1 or round up your bill for Renown Children’s Hospital via the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The Panda Cares® Center of Hope is made possible by Panda Express guests’ who participated and associates’ donations.

Panda Express® guests and their associates in northern Nevada and
northeastern California have raised nearly $500,000 for Renown Children’s
Hospital since 2007.

To Date, Panda Express Funds Have Already Supported:

• Giraffe omni beds for the NICU
• Ultrasound machine for the Children’s ER
• Panda warmers and a handheld Accuvein machine
• Child Life Program to support sick patients and families
• Meeting room in the Children’s Specialty Center
• In-kind donations, volunteer time and support of local events such as the University of Nevada Reno, Wolf Pack Dance Marathon
