Seattle Children’s Hospital Psychiatry And Behavioral Medicine Unit

Healthcare Design Magazine recently had a photo tour and article on the new Seattle Children’s Hospital Psychiatry And Behavioral Medicine Unit in Seattle, Washington. Phase 1 opened last fall and Phase 2 opened this spring. They now have 41 beds on two levels and serve children ages 3 to 18 years with complex mental health issues.
Patient rooms have large windows that allow natural light in and views to the outdoors. There are two beds in the rooms so that the patient’s parent can stay with them. Warm and natural materials are used to aid in wayfinding, connecting patients with nature, and creating a calming environment.
