Healthcare Design Magazine recently had an article on Florida Hospital Tampa which has just completed an extensive renovation of its 45-year-old campus. They have expanded the Women’s Health Pavilion, added a new 91,000-square-foot emergency department and 87,000-square-foot intensive care unit tower, and a completely separate pediatric wing designed to reduce anxiety in younger patients. The different projects were completed between May of 2014 and January of 2015. To read the entire article in Healthcare Design Magazine and take the photo tour, click here.
The once-hidden ED was relocated to be adjacent to cardiac services. Its dramatic two-story lobby is bathed in natural light and features a large sculpture as focal point. A separate pediatric waiting area has an interactive wall, games, and movie-watching area. The new “Doc First” ED puts physicians up front, improves patient flow, and reduces wait times. The Women’s Health Pavilion includes a modern lobby, pre-admission testing rooms, ultrasound suites, a lactation consultation room, a pediatric waiting area, an Internet café, a gift shop, and an outdoor garden. There’s also a mandatory security check-in site as well as 24-hour monitored elevators, a patient and family conference room, and a chapel open around the clock.
