Building a Better Patient Experience

When Marie Wikoff designed a new space for Reno Oncology Consultants, the goal was to create a spa-like atmosphere to ultimately help create a better experience for patients.

When Reno Oncology Consultants moved to a new location near Bartley Ranch Regional Park in Reno, Nevada, they saw the move as an opportunity to revamp their look. Enlisting the help of Marie Wikoff, a healthcare design specialist, they devised a plan to design 15 examination rooms, physician and staff offices and an infusion room where patients go to receive chemotherapy treatments.  The whole clinic needed to serve entire families, staff and research.

Wikoff embraced the challenge and proceeded to design a soft, relaxing and calming space.  She chose colors such as sage and aqua combining it with walnut and maple woods.

In the infusion room, Wikoff stuck to her spa-like atmosphere but added acrylic panels with grass-like patterns and a sculpted shape in the ceiling to create some visual interest for patients who spend lengthy times in the room.
