The Art of Imagination
When designing a children’s hospital one hopes to create an inviting space that encourages, inspires, soothes and positively influences the patients, families, doctors and staff. Incorporating certain design elements such as color, shapes, and technology can help to create a better way for children to experience healthcare.
When Marie, owner of Wikoff Design Studio based out of Reno, NV was asked to design Hospital de Cancer de Barretos, she was thrilled. Wikoff specializes in healthcare design and is well-known for her work at Renown Children’s Hospital. Her goal was to collaborate with the crew at Hospital de Cancer de Barretos to come up with an innovative design that would integrate state of the art technology and provide patients with a hospital experience that would inspire recovery and sooth the anxiety caused by the painful process of treatments and long stays.
Here, you can see how Wikoff uses color, art, and technology to mimic nature and create a relaxed, fun and therapeutic environment. Artistic technology provided by The Sky Factory help the walls and ceiling come alive and spark the imagination of patients and their families.

August 5, 2013I think it’s wonderful how they used all those elements to create such an enchanting atmosphere, and most of all because it’s for children. It’s amazing how simple details can make such a difference. Love it!
