Nature Is a Universally Appealing Subject Which Is Why Biophilic Design Works so Well in Healthcare

Nature is a universally appealing subject that is not influenced by individual artistic tastes. That is why design inspired by nature or biophilic design works so well in the healthcare environment.

Biophilic Design

Interior Design that is inspired by the local environment, is called biophilic design. Biophilic design brings the natural invornment inside and helps create energy and optimism. It is shown that exposure to nature provides comfort for the soul and inspires healing.

A Biophilic Design can be executed by using natural materials, natural light, vegetation, nature views and other experiences of the natural world into the built environment.

Biophilic Design Supports Health

It is understood that humans have an inherent need to affiliate with nature. It is proven with evidence based design too.

Biophilic Design supports the healthcare environment because it offers a more subtle representation of the natural environment and still provides the healing aspects of evidence-based design. For example, designers can use elements of nature such as patterns, lighting, materials and colors as cues reminiscent of natural settings.

Images of nature can also be used, particularly images of local landscapes and nature. Using images that resonate well with locals will have the most impact and provide the most comfort.
