Hardin Memorial Hospital North Tower Expansion
Hardin Memorial Hospital (HMH) in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, is a county-owned hospital which has recently expanded in order to increase the number of private rooms as well as provide modern, patient-centered accommodations. Previous to their expansion, their newest renovation was 30 years ago. When the expansion was completed in March, 2015, 56 new private beds had been added.
For the upgrade and expansion, they constructed two new floors on top of the existing building. They used a variety of evidence-based design (EBD) methodologies for the construction, including utilizing natural light through numerous windows, which also provides patients with a panoramic view of the rural countryside.
