Design Considerations – Keeping the Patient in Mind
The most important thing to consider when designing the waiting room is to keep your patients in mind. Who are your patients? Are they children? Are you running a practice for adults? Do you cater to senior citizens specifically? The way you design the waiting room depends on the age group of your patients.
When operating a practice for children, you should design a waiting room that caters to them. Have small chairs and tables for them to do puzzles, play games, and color. Ensure that they have plenty to do while in the waiting room.
For adults, consider couches, large chairs and other comfortable seating. Also think about installing one or more televisions in the waiting room that get more than just your local news channels. Magazines, books and other pamphlets are always a good bet for the waiting room.

An excellent idea for designing your medical practice waiting area is to put bright colors to work. When painting the walls, do not use bleak colors. Instead, brighten things up, especially for a pediatric office. The brighter the colors are, the more welcoming the office will be to patients of all ages. It will also help them stay in good spirits while in the office.
