RENO, NV – Shelter takes the sports bar theme and adds flare to it. While you’re chowing down with family or grabbing a drink with friends, you can also get in a quick game of bowling. Owner Jamy Keshmiri got the idea for the business while traveling through major cities along the west coast, where he saw similar concepts that were a huge hit. He says he wants to provide a different kind of experience for people visiting the downtown area.

“There’s more than one stimulus or activity to do when you’re out at night, especially if you don’t want to dance, but you still like the music. I thought this would be a good concept to bring to Reno. I see things picking up, more fun things, so I thought this would be a great place to do it,” he says.

Keshmiri says the biggest challenge was building the business in a basement, but he also thinks that makes it more appealing.

“It adds a little bit to the element, the underground aspect of it, which I really like because you don’t see too many of those around. So I think that’s what gives a unique nature to it,” he says.

Shelter will serve as a family-friendly sports bar and restaurant during the day, but at night it will take on more of a club feel and will be strictly for people 21 and up. The bar opens on March 27th and is located at 111 N. Virginia Street. There are still 40 positions that need to be filled, everything from servers and securityto bartenders and managers. If you’d like to apply, you can send a resume to hr@shelterofreno.com.
