Featured Artist: The Sky Factory – Illusions of Nature

The Sky Factory, produces virtual skylights and windows. The combination of photography and digital cinema make a high quality illusion of nature.

Formed in 2002, The Sky Factory is a company of 35 people in Fairfield, Iowa. Their business is to provide the highest quality Illusions of Nature.  The company has partners all over the world and is made up with engineers and artists.    It is said that everyone there has a healthy respect for magic – necessarily so – since their art lies in creating illusion.

Below is a picture of two Sky Factory virtual skylights that Wikoff used in Hospital de Cancer de Barretos.  The Sky Factory, provided digital moving clouds that Wikoff had mounted above hospital beds.  Research over the last several decades indicates that nature promotes healing in healthcare settings, improves productivity and satisfaction in the workplace, and increases well-being and reduces stress in all environments.

It’s no wonder that Wikoff prefers to use the artistic technology provided by The Sky Factory.  Efforts combine and help to create a therapeutic, healing, and fun environment for children,  family and staff.
